Ibrahim, Khalid and Yousif
You'll rarely find the Hashish brothers, Ibrahim, Klalid and Yousif, in the Fitness Centre without each other! As soon as school's out for the day — high school for Ibrahim and Yousif, and university for Khalid — they head to the Fitness Centre to be active. Like great workout buddies, they motivate each other to train hard and work towards their fitness goals. But these easygoing brothers like to have fun too, pursuing their other interests and hanging out with friends in their spare time.

All – "Originally from Cairo, Egypt; they moved to Halifax in 2015."
Ibrahim – "I like how there is more than one thing you can do in the facility. I can work out, play basketball and go swimming."
Khalid – "It has something for everyone from sports activities to weight training. It's a great place to start a fitness journey."
Yousif – "They are always welcoming and you can do more than one thing."
- What do you like about the CGC?
Ibrahim – "I've always been active since I was a kid. Being active and fit is important for me as I grow up because I want to be very healthy."
Khalid – "My brothers. We push each other to work out and train."
Yousif – "I am trying to lose weight and the CGC is helping me by giving me a chance to go to the gym."
- What motivates you to maintain and active lifestyle/why is fitness so important to you?
Ibrahim – "In my spare time, I like to play soccer, go to the gym and hang out with friends."
Khalid – "Relax and meditate. I also enjoy playing instruments - piano and guitar. I find myself practicing whenever I am free."
Yousif – "I like to play soccer and play basketball with friends."
- What do you like to do in your spare time?
Ibrahim – "Tacos"
Khalid – "Koshari, a traditional Egyptian plate that consists of pasta, rice, lentils, chickpeas and garlic tomato sauce"
Yousif – "Sushi"
- What is your favourite food or indulgence?
Ibrahim – "Protein bar"
Khalid – "A protein bar, maybe a shake if there aren't any bars at home"
Yousif – "Protein shake"
- What is your favourite post-workout snack?
Ibrahim – "Fast & Furious"
Khalid – "Harry Potter - all of them."
Yousif – "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
- What is your favourite movie/book/TV show?
Ibrahim – "Anything by Meek Mill"
Khalid – "Any hip hop song with a good beat that gets me going."
Yousif – "Drake"
- What is your go-to workout song or what are you listening to right now ?
Ibrahim – "If you believe you can achieve"
Khalid – "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present - Bill Keane."
Yousif – "Nothing is impossible, the word itself spells I'm possible."
- What is your favourite quote?
Ibrahim – "My goal is to get to my best body physique."
Khalid – "My goal when I first started was to gain muscle, now I want to maintain a good physique for the majority of my life."
Yousif – "Lose weight and get in good shape."
- What is your current workout goal or proudest accomplishment since starting at the CGC?
Ibrahim – "Going to the gym with my brothers, going and jumping off the diving boards in the pool."
Khalid – "My favourite memory is learning to backflip at the pool. I was scared to do it, but it was just a matter of commitment to the flip."
Yousif – "The first time bench pressing a plate."
- What is your favourite memory of the CGC?
Ibrahim – "Everyone is really friendly, nice and welcoming in the facility."
Khalid – "That it is a place for everyone. If you are trying to start your fitness journey, it is definitely the best place to do so. Everyone there is so friendly and it feels like we are just one big team."
Yousif – "Everyone has a big heart."
