Province Moves Up Timeline for Lifting Restrictions

All Public Health restrictions to be removed March 21st, 2022

February 25, 2022

The Province has announced an earlier timeline for lifting Public Health restrictions (Press Release). Here’s a summary of what you can expect at the CGC based on that news.

Effective Monday, February 28th, 2022

  • Proof of vaccination is no longer required to participate in activities and attend recreation facilities.
  • Masking, physical distancing of 2m/6ft and booking of activities will continue.
  • No change in current capacity limits.

Effective Monday, March 7th, 2022

Phase 2 of the Province’s reopening plan begins. In this phase, recreation facilities can operate at 75% capacity, with physical distancing as much as possible. After reviewing our layouts for activities and common areas (hallways, change rooms, etc.), as well as traffic patterns of individuals throughout the facility, we are able to adjust our capacities in select areas.

  • Open Swim capacity increases to 75 participants when offered in both the Competition Pool and Leisure Pool; and up to 30 participants when in the Leisure Pool only.
  • Lane Swim increases up to 4 swimmers per lane in the Competition Pool.
  • Dry Sauna will reopen for individuals with an aquatics booking at the same time; maximum of 3 people.
  • Additional capacity will be added to some Fitness Classes (including Aquafit)
  • Masking, physical distancing of 2m/6ft and booking of activities will continue.

The additional spaces will be added to MyRec for booking online or in-person.

Effective Monday, March 21st, 2022

Phase 3 of the Province’s reopen plan begins. In this phase, all Public Health restrictions are removed. We will provide another update closer to March 21st with more details regarding the full return of services and amenities.

Thank You!

We very much look forward to returning to 100% capacity without restrictions. In the meantime, we really appreciate all of the support and continued adherence to Public Health and CGC protocols. Thank you for helping us continue to provide the community with a safe space for physical and mental health during the pandemic. Please keep up the great work when visiting the CGC and don’t forget to wash/sanitize your hands often, wear your mask when not engaged in exercise, social distance as directed, and stay home when sick.
