FAQ: JOB ACTION BY THE NOVA SCOTIA TEACHERS UNION (NSTU)

Will the Canada Games Centre be offering Day Camps if school is cancelled due to a potential teachers strike?

Yes, we will be offering Day Camps on regularly scheduled school days for the length of the strike. Day Camps are offered to children in grades P-6 and will run from 8:30am-5pm.

What do your Day Camps offer?

Day Camps typically include everything from swimming in one of the three pools in our Aquatics Centre, playing physically active games in our 52,000 sq. ft. of hardwood court space in the Field House, running laps on our 200-metre 6-lane indoor Track, crafts and classroom activities in the community rooms, as well as outdoor play on our brand new playground. Day Camps are led by enthusiastic, active and qualified leaders whose main objective is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment that ensures all participants are actively engaged, motivated, having fun and remaining safe.

What is the cost?

Day Camps will be offered at $35/day.

How many spots will be available?

We will do our best to accommodate as many children as possible in these Day Camps while taking into account staff availability and facility space.

How will registration work?

Registration will be available online or in-person, beginning with our current After School Program participants, then Members before opening up to Non-Members.

What is the cancellation policy?

Refunds will be offered for the days of camp which do not run. Refunds will be made available in the form of a cheque or a credit on your Canada Games Centre account. Please note that due to the anticipated short timeline between registration and the start of these Day Camps, withdrawals will not be offered once registration is complete.

How can I stay up to date?

We will provide updates on our website and social media (on Facebook and Twitter @CdaGamesCentre) in the coming days.
