Position Summary

Exercise Specialists with the Canada Games Centre provide the motivation, knowledge, and coaching our clients require to reach their individual fitness and health goals. This is an opportunity where mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekend availability are required to be successful.

Responsibilities  

  • Conduct individual, semi-private, small group (3-5 people), and team training (5-20 participants)
  • Fitness testing, assessments, and program design
  • Understand the needs and goals of each individual client
  • Knowledge in designing fitness programs based on individual goals, needs, and limitations.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Canada Games Centre group fitness programs
  • Provide extraordinary Customer Service to members and guests
  • Sales and paperwork duties as necessary to the role
  • Actively supervise the various operational areas of the fitness floor including strength training, cardiovascular, and core strengthening areas
  • Participate in clientele building activities

Qualifications  

Mandatory

  • Successful candidates will have a degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Exercise Science or a related field
  • Will implement a systematic approach to exercise interventions that services a wide range of demographics and individuals
  • Certifications accepted: CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer, CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist, NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer, NSCA-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, ACSM-Certified Personal Trainer or equivalent
  • We are seeking individuals with a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience in a recreation/fitness environment
  • Other fitness certifications/memberships/ability to instruct group fitness would be an asset (Nova Scotia Fitness Association, canfitpro Fitness Instructor Specialist, etc.) to compliment this position
  • Experience teaching group fitness especially small group training
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills

Desirable

  • AED Certification

Compensation

  • Salary will be commensurate with experience and is based on an hourly wage per client.

  • Criminal Record & Child Abuse Registry checks will be required as part of the hiring process
