National Nordic Walking Day

June 14, 2014 | 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Canada Games Centre

Nordic Walking at the CGCAll across North America, on June 14th people will be out enjoying their walking poles after a long winter in celebration of National Nordic Walking Day.

Saturday June 14th, 2014 is a special day for Nordic Walkers. This year is not only meant to get all Nordic Walkers across Canada outside and walking, but also to commemorate the passing of the NPW guru, Doctor Klaus Schwanbeck. We will meet at 10am in front of the Canada Games Centre and then proceed for 45mins-1hr walk on the Mainland Linear Trail. This walk is open to all nordic walkers and everyone is encouraged to go at your own pace. Come out and reconnect with your old instructors, share memories about Klaus and share walking stories about your latest hikes.

Please dress for the weather, this is an outdoor event. However in the event of rain, we’ll head inside to the indoor Track. Don’t forget your water bottles!

Dr. Klaus, as he was affectionately called, travelled from Germany to give workshops at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax. He was a highly respected expert in the field of Nordic Walking and well known in this area. You can see a tribute to Dr. Klaus on his web site. www.nordixx.com
