What you need to know before you go…
Thank you for signing up for the 4th annual Food Run on Sunday, October 16th in support of FEED NOVA SCOTIA. Each year, the Food Run brings together all ages in the community, celebrates healthy active living, while giving back to the community. We’re delighted you are joining us!
Rain or Shine
We’re determined to take a bite out of hunger no matter the weather. Make sure to dress in layers for the great outdoors during the races. This year we’ve moved the party indoors to the CGC Field House, so be sure to come inside afterwards to have fun and stay warm.
Race Kit Pick-up & Donation Drop-off
As you may have heard, we’re collecting food donations in lieu of a registration fee; 1kg of food is an ideal amount- like 3 cans of soup or a box of rice for example, but we’ll obviously accept more! Alternatively, you can donate $10 to FEED NOVA SCOTIA. You can swing by the CGC at the following times to drop off your donation and also pick-up your race t-shirt (quantities are limited) and bib:
Friday, October, 14th | 5pm – 9pm
Saturday, October 15th | 10am – 12pm and 5pm-7pm
The Race Course
A large course map, identifying not only the 2.5km and 5km routes, but also water and first aid stations, will be on display next to the start/finish line. The markers you see on the map will also be placed physically along the course to keep you headed in the right direction. To help with your footwear choice on Sunday, please note the course is made up of mixed terrain – some sidewalk and some trail. Strollers and Nordic Poles are welcome.
Parking
The side parking lot and upper lot will be available. Spaces however are still limited and we do love our planet, so public transit and carpooling are always great options.
Water Station
Halifax Water is providing water dispensing stations outside the Centre so you can re(fill) your water bottle.
Washrooms
Washroom facilities are inside the Canada Games Centre in the main hallway. These are available for everyone. CGC members can access the showers and change rooms. If you’re a Non-Member and wish to access the showers and change rooms, you can purchase a day pass.
Indoor Community Festival
After all the finish line cheering, celebrate with family, friends and neighbours in the CGC Field House from 10am to 1pm at the Community Festival. You do not need to participate in the run to attend, simply bring a food or cash donation. Enjoy a coffee or iced beverage at the Starbucks community table while listening to 92.9 Jack FM. Challenge yourself at the RBC Training Ground and Fanfit booths or race through the Run Jump Throw Wheel obstacle course. Get your face painted, have fun in the 3 bouncy castles, sample food and smoothies, say hello at the community booths, including on-site sponsor Lifemark and chat with your neighbours.
Prizes & Draws
We’ve got lots of goodies to give away and we’ll be doing a lot of drives throughout the Festival so make sure to stick around. Do you have a favourite costume you’d like to run/walk in? A banana suit perhaps? You might win something if you do!
Share Your Fun
Events are always more fun when you have someone to share them with, but you don’t have to limit your sharing to only those running with you. Tweeting, posting, sharing and shouting to the rofftops are highly encourages, and to help others makes sense of the source of your enthusiasm, use the following:
