Aquatics Centre Maintenance Closure, Child Minding and Summer Camps

Spring is almost here and we want to share news about the Aquatics Centre maintenance and updates around the CGC in the upcoming months.
Aquatics Centre Maintenance
After lots of active play, the Aquatics Centre is getting some TLC as we tackle larger maintenance projects and spring cleaning that are not possible while the areas are in use.
CLOSING | Sunday, May 26th, 2024 at 9pm
RE-OPENING | Monday, June 24th, 2024 at 5:30am
During this time the full Aquatics Centre will be closed and the pools will be drained, so that we may accomplish the following:
- Planned locker replacement in the Wet Change Rooms
- Repairs to the pool deck floor tiles and grates
- Repairs to Dry Sauna shower area and Hot Tub
- Maintenance to the moveable floor in the Competition Pool
- Replacement of signage around the pool deck and water slide area
- Painting and additional benches around the pool deck
- And some serious deep cleaning of locker rooms and pool deck
Plus, we’ll be doing repairs to our water slides and diving boards with more details for these projects to follow. We thank you in advance for your patience during this Aquatics Centre maintenance closure and hope you are as excited about the improvements as we are!
How to cope without the Aquatics Centre–We can help!
Our dryland activities and classes will continue to run during this time. It’s a great opportunity to explore other areas of the Centre:
- Try out one of our dryland fitness classes—stay tuned for a list of classes and workshops during regular Aquafit class times!
- Take a walk on the 200m indoor Track with friends or test out a pair of Nordic Walking Poles available at the Fitness Centre Desk
- Book a game of Pickleball or Badminton in the Field House or practice your basketball throws
- Stop by for a workout in the Fitness Centre
- If you still want to swim during the this time (May 27th-June 23rd), members can use their CGC membership at Zatzman Sportsplex (Aquatics Centre) and Centennial Pool— further details will be shared in May!
Our Fitness and Field House schedules can help you decide what to try, or our staff are always handy for an active suggestion or two!
Information for CGC Members
If the options to explore other areas of the Centre, or to use another facility, are not feasible for you, we can help freeze your membership for 4 weeks. Please note if you freeze your membership you and any other active members on your account will not have access to the Centre during the 4 weeks.
- Annual (pre-paid) Members: We will extend your pass to account for the closure time
- Annual (bi-weekly) Members: No payments will be taken during the closure time
To freeze your membership during this planned maintenance, please click here to complete the request form before May 24th, 2024 and we’ll take care of the freeze. Or stop by the Desk and our Customer Service Team will be happy to help you.

Child Minding
Child Minding is taking a pause for the summer, but will return in the fall! This space will allow us to meet programming demands and welcome children for our Summer Camp programs. The last day for Child Minding will be Friday, June 28th and will return on Tuesday, September 3rd. We thank you for your understanding.
Summer Camps & Programs Registration
Our programmers are busy putting together a healthy active lineup of summer camps and activities for children ages 5 1/2 to 12. Read more about last year’s Summer Camp fun! The 2024 Summer Camps & Programs Guide will be online the week of March 4th-10th.

Other Upcoming Projects
In the coming months, we’ll also be swapping out the Spin bike area wall graphic, replacing the pool spray toys, adding new workout benches in the Fitness Centre and more! Stay tuned for timelines as we complete these improvements.
