What You Should Do

While the potential exposure is believed to be low risk, out of an abundance of caution, Public Health and the CGC ask anyone who may have visited the facility on the specified dates and times to monitor themselves for symptoms of COVID-19 over the next 14 days following September 1st:

  • Fever or cough (new or worsening); OR
  • Two or more of the following symptoms (new or worsening):
    • Sore throat
    • Runny nose
    • Headache
    • Shortness of breath

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms:

Call 811 for assessment. Please self-isolate until you receive 811 advice. Do not go directly to a COVID-19 assessment centre without being directed to do so by 811.

Public Health is also directly contacting anyone else known to be a close contact of the person(s) confirmed to have COVID-19.

All Nova Scotians are advised to continue monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and are urged to follow Public Health guidelines on how to access care. Up to date information about COVID-19 is available at novascotia.ca/coronavirus

If you remain healthy and do not develop symptoms:

There is no need to self-isolate and you can continue with your usual daily activities. When visiting the CGC, please continue to follow all Public Health guidelines and CGC protocols such as washing your hands often, wearing a mask, practice social distancing and staying home when sick.

Actions We’ve Taken

In addition to the ongoing disinfecting during and in between time slots, the CGC also performs a deep clean of all areas overnight. Following the news of the potential exposure, we took advantage of the facility’s closure on Labour Day to thoroughly clean and disinfect the Fitness Centre again. We also addressed all high-touch surface areas throughout the facility, including handrails and door handles, using disinfectant sprayers for full coverage.

In addition to posting this information to our website, we are emailing our members directly as well as any non-members who booked activities during the specified dates and times. We are also posting a link to the Public Health press release on our social media feeds and displaying a notice within the facility.

We remain committed to providing the safest space possible for the physical and mental health of our community. We continue to follow Public Health guidelines and will make any adjustments necessary to our protocols and reopening stages. At this time, no changes to our protocols are required as a result of this potential exposure.

We wish the individual well and a speedy recovery.
