The summer months are on their way and so is a lot of activity at the CGC! Here’s what’s upcoming:
Summer Facility Hours – July 2nd to September 3rd
On weekends, the CGC will be closing at 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays. This schedule change takes effect as of Sunday, July 2nd until Sunday, September 3rd.
Monday-Friday | 5:30am-10pm
Saturdays & Sundays | 7am-7pm
Summer schedules for daily Aquatics, Fitness, and Field House & Track activities will be posted closer to their start dates.
Summer Holidays
The CGC will be closed on:
- Canada Day, July 1st
- Natal Day, August 7th
- Labour Day, September 4th
Child Minding
Child Minding is taking the summer off, but will return in the fall!
Summer Programming
We’re excited to offer camps and programs this summer that continue to focus on physical literacy and Sport For Life Principles for all ages, interests and fitness levels.
- Summer Camps: Join us in welcoming new and returning summer campers to the CGC. The fun takes place from July 3rd to August 25th, and summer camps run Monday to Friday starting at 8:30am and ending at 5:30pm.
- CGC Swim Academy Summer Swim Team: Best of luck to the CGCSA Summer Swim Team throughout their competition season! We can’t wait to see what you do.
- We’re also offering summer Swim Lessons & Aquatics Leadership programs, Karate, and Fitness & Wellness programs (ages 16+).

North American Indigenous Games | July 15th-23rd
The 10th North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) will welcome over 5,000 Indigenous athletes to Kjipuktuk (Halifax) for 8 days of sport and culture celebrations. Between July 15th-23rd, competitions in 16 sports will take place within 21 venues across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth and Millbrook First Nation. The Canada Games Centre is excited to be the host venue for volleyball (more details on this later!). Fall Programs Registration
Our programmers are busy putting together a healthy active lineup of fall activities. The Fall 2023 Program Guide will be posted online the week of July 24th-28th.

Upcoming Projects
Exact dates and details to follow, but we’re making plans to replace the lockers in the Mens and Womens Wet Change Rooms in the fall. In addition to a general refresh of the spaces, the metal lockers will be removed and replaced with lockers more suitable to a wet environment, like the ones in the new Universal Change Room.
