Responsibilities

  • Assist in the processing and reconciling of daily cash deposits to registration system
  • Assist in the processing and reconciling of credit card and debit payments
  • Assist in the posting and reconciling of journal entries from Registration system into accounting system
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assist in the processing of expenditures, ensuring compliance with established approval limits and procedures
  • Assist in the processing of customer refunds
  • Assist in reconciling, adjusting and reviewing general ledger accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of year end working papers and continuity reports for external year end audit and respond to auditors’ requests
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Other tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary business degree or business diploma, with a concentration in accounting
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience in accounting
  • Experience working with accounting software packages
  • Experience with AccPac will be considered a definite asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail are required
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft application (advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel would be considered an asset)
  • Ability to exercise discretion, good judgment and tact, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public, user groups, and staff

Reports to: Finance Coordinator

Working Conditions

  • This position requires 35 hours per week during normal administrative hours for the Centre, Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Additional hours and flexibility may be required during peak accounting periods

  • Salary will be commensurate with education and experience
