    Friendly Reminder: We're excited to be the host venue for Badminton Nova Scotia's 2018 Yonex Longard Open Tournament in the full Field House from Friday, January 26th at 10am to Sunday, January 28th at 3pm. The Track will be open during the Tournament and these fitness classes have been moved to the Track Starting Blocks - January 26th 9:15 am HIIT & 10:30am Fit for Life | January 27th - 9:15am HIIT & 10:30am Zumba | January 28th - 10am Cardio Combat. Field House Maintenance Closure | Aug 31st-Sept 22nd, 2016

**UPDATE: We’re excited to announce that the maintenance work in the Field House ran smoothly and the work will be completed ahead of schedule. This means we’re re-opening the Field House at 8am on Thursday, September 22nd!

FIELD HOUSE MAINTENANCE CLOSURE DATES

CLOSING | Wednesday, August 31st at 6pm
RE-OPENING | Thursday, September 22nd at 8am
The Field House certainly gets a lot of active play, so it’s getting some special treatment this fall to keep it in great shape. During this scheduled maintenance, we are:

  • Sanding and re-finishing the hardwood floors
  • Re-painting lines to improve traction and reduce slippage
  • Adding new badminton,  pickle ball, volleyball lines and sockets for nets
  • Painting new hopscotch lines on the court sidelines

The floor is being re-finished with a water-based finish. Indoor air quality (VOC levels) will be monitored on a daily basis. The Fitness Centre and Track will remain open, but Track closures may occur intermittently.

Since our doors opened 5 years ago, we’ve only had one maintenance closure in the full Field House. As we switch to a water-based finish, this will lessen the impact of future re-finishing closures.

AQUATICS CENTRE & DROP-IN FITNESS SCHEDULES

The Aquatics Centre and all other rooms will remain open during this maintenance. Drop-in Fitness classes will continue to run in other areas. View the Fall 2016 Drop-In Fitness schedule.

Here are some ideas to keep you moving during this time –  grab a pair of Nordic Poles for a walk around the Track, test out the water slides after a swim, jump in the pool for one of our Aquafit classes or test out our new fitness equipment. Our staff are always handy for an activity suggestion or two!
