Cancellation Policy

One Month Memberships

You have five days after purchasing a one month membership to rescind it in writing by completing a Membership Change Form. Persons wishing to cancel their contract after the five days will not be able to do so until the end of their contract term.

The remainder of a one month membership may be credited towards a longer term membership if the request is made before the membership expiry. Members wishing to change to a longer term must contact the Membership Coordinator to credit the remaining balance of the card to the member account. No cash refunds or cancellations will be issued for one month memberships after the first five days.

Annual or Six Month Memberships

You have five days after signing a membership agreement to rescind it in writing by completing a Membership Change Form. Persons wishing to cancel their contract after the five days will not be able to do so until the end of their contract term.

Persons wishing to cancel their membership before the original contract expiry date must provide 30 days’ notice to the Membership Coordinator by completing a Membership Change Form. The following cancellation fees will apply:

At the end of your initial term, unless paid in full, your membership will renew automatically on a month-to-month basis at the current posted rates for that year. If you do not wish to have automatic renewal you may cancel it by completing a cancellation form at the Canada Games Centre Customer Service Desk 30 days before your renewal date. You will be notified by the Membership Coordinator 30 days before your renewal date.

Once the Membership has automatically renewed you may cancel with 30 days’ notice at any time. Family Add-ons may be added or removed with 30 days’ notice.

Membership Transfer

Members may transfer their membership to another person by making an appointment with the Membership Coordinator at the Canada Games Centre.

The new member must agree to fulfill the remainder of the original member’s contract. The transferred membership will have the same contract expiry, terms and conditions as the original membership. Rates will be adjusted based on the new member’s fee category. Both the former patron and new member must sign off on the membership transfer.

Membership Freeze

Members with Annual Memberships have the option to put their memberships on hold for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months. Members can have multiple freezes (i.e. non-consecutive one-month freezes) as long as they do not exceed the maximum of three months. If a member wishes to freeze for longer than the maximum time provided, a fee of $50 will be charged each time. Freezes must be in weekly increments while abiding by the minimum and maximum time limits.

Members must notify the front desk of their absence in writing before they want the freeze to begin. Freezes will not be applied retroactively.

During the membership freeze, member cards will be suspended. Bi-weekly payments will continue and the contract expiry date will be extended depending on the length of the freeze. The extended time cannot be re-frozen and must be applied at the end of the contract unless medical reasons do not permit use of the facility.

Memberships with multiple members can choose to freeze all members or, in the event that a single member must freeze and others will continue, the extended time will be divided between all members in the household.

No refunds will be issued for freeze time.

Medical Freeze

Members who provide a medical note indicating that they are physically unable to use the facility may freeze their membership for the time denoted on their medical documentation. These freezes can be applied retroactively. Medical freezes are always complimentary with the provision of a medical note. Freezes must be in weekly increments with a minimum of four weeks.
